IV.  Play Books and Materials

In my “Collectibles” book I describe the following play books by Wright, that is books that are scripts of plays.  Though I refer to these as "books," they are mostly loose pages or crudely bound.  Many were rented to producers for the duration of a production.  I will add a few clarifications in the near future.

N/A That Printer of Udell's, produced July 31, 1913 by Gaskell & MacVitty (or McVitty. (E.W.Reynolds.)
N/A 30a.  Shamrock and Cactus, 1920.  This is the original title and copyright date for what later became known as "The Salt of the Earth."
N/A 30b.  The Salt of the Earth, 1921.  A three-act drama based on A Son of His Father.
N/A 30c.  The Salt of the Earth, 1926
N/A 31.  The Blacksmith, 1915.  A one-act play.
N/A 32.  The Shepherd of The Hills, 1914, by Harold Bell Wright and Elsbery W. Reynolds. (In Harold Bell Wright's records, the play "The Shepherd of the Hills" is listed as produced April 1, 1912 by Gaskell & MacVitty, (E.W.Reynolds.) )
Bwswanlight.jpg (50560 bytes) 33.  The Winning of Barbara Worth, 1915.  Poster 27" x 41"   "Dramatized by Wm. Lynch Roberts and Mark E. Swan."  A play in prologue and 3 acts.  Typescript manuscript (missing cover), in the Pusey Collection, Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass.  Quentin Burke, Harold Bell Wright Society, has a copy. Photo courtesy A. K. Smiley Library, Redlands. (In Harold Bell Wright's records, the play "The Winning of Barbara Worth is described as produced September 1, 1913 by William Norris. (E.W.Reynolds.))

N/A 34.  The Winning of Barbara Worth, dramatized by Edwin Milton Royle, 1912.  Manuscript was filed by the author with his copyright application, October 22, 1912.  Moved to the Library of Congress.  Missing last page.  Quentin Burke, Harold Bell Wright Society, has a copy.
N/A 35.  The Calling of Dan Matthews, 1919 (In Harold Bell Wright's records, the play "The Calling of Dan Matthews" is described as produced April 14, 1914, by Gaskell & MacVitty. (E.W.Reynolds.))
